Loulu79,

You’re welcome! ROFL, you’ve only missed one day. I am working on getting additional clothed models, but for the time being they are a bit hard to come by. Would it be okay for the next Workshop? If you have reference in mind, sure, email it or a link to me (provided the person photographed agrees) and I’ll add it to this OFDW.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

I didn’t manage to finish it but am nearing completion. I need to work on the legs and feet mainly.

Started on the other one with a quick charcoal and some pencil bits to see how I get on. I’m not experienced in traditional drawing. The last time I did it (semi) seriously was in high school art so I’m very out of practice. I’ve been spoiled with digital sketcing. It’s stupid but half the time I make a mistake with a pencil, I say “undo” in my head. Gah…

Amerasu,

Wow, some pretty amazing stuff ~ hats off to you!

That right hand is starting to look darn near photo~realistic! And the head is really impressive as well. Great to see you develop the back subtly. He almost has a presence! Wow!

I think the next step is just bringing the entire figure up to the level of that hand ~ I needn’t tell you that the lower portion is much less finished than the upper. It’s also quite enjoyable to see your pencil studies…the rightmost one is quite nice! I think we all say ‘undo’ to ourselves ~ I do that if I drop something, lol! The other day I nearly said to a live person, “ROFL” ~ :scream:. This is what modern life has turned us all into.

Great stuff! Minor crits are that the left hand and feet just look a tad smallish ~ but overall, amazing job! Look forward to the final piece!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

At the risk of spamming the thread and if my thoughts count  , looking good Amerasu! :applause:

Ben, your thoughts absolutely count!! I think it’s great that you want to participate in the Workshop. I found out recently that the female model for OFDWs 001 and 002 had seen the work we had done and really liked it, which I think is fabulous! Please chime in whenever you feel like doing so.

Cheers,

I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had a chance to participate in any of the anatomy threads yet, even though that tend to be my weakest area.

The finished piece:

I think I’ll do one with color next. Have to work on skin tones.

csgirl,

Great to see your work here! I think you’ve got a great start, but might I recommend continuing to work on and refine this piece, vs. starting another from scratch?

Definitely hope to see more of your work on the Anatomy forum!

Cheers,

#68

Well, gee anything for you Rebeccak!

csgirl,

ROFL, I don’t know if I’m being mocked…but, whatever, it’s funny! :scream:

Here you go Rebecca. Time for bed now!

#73

csgirl,

Wow! That’s a pretty impressive leap! Hope you didn’t do it just for me! :scream: Great stuff!! You’ve really nailed the head and the right hand ~ great work there! I also like the texture of the skin and your values in the back are working great so far. Will you be continuing more with this piece?

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#74

Well of course I did! But I’m glad I kept working on it, I like it much better. I might do a bit more tomorrow (i’m sure I’ll look at it and see all kinds of things to fix). But next I’ll do something in color.

Schweet!!! I’m really impressed with your and Amerasu’s speed ~ personally, I’m slow as rocks, so it’s nice to see not everyone is so impaired. :scream: Great stuff, you said Anatomy was your weakness?? Looking good so far ~ must not be a crippling handicap.

Great stuff! Looking forward to color pieces!

Cheers!

Well…ya. I do alright when I have a photo for reference, especially if its a good one like this. But when I try to make it up (and can’t find any references), I faily pretty badly. I paint mostly women, so I can do them pretty well, but I hardly ever paint men, so I really need to study there. But we learn by doing, right? I hope that by doing enough studies using photos and such, i’ll have an easier time when I don’t have any reference.

#77

csgirl,

Hey, what is your bkgrd / training? Obviously art! But can you tell us something more specific?

I hope that by doing enough studies using photos and such, i’ll have an easier time when I don’t have any reference.

Hey, you know, if you are going to be committed to doing anatomical studies, why not create your own personal thread and call it Anatomy Thread of csgirl? You are welcome to do this so long as you will be posting to it regularly (within reason). You’re still more than welcome to post to any of the other threads here ~ but you may get more critique if people can see your progress over time. Food for thought.

Cheers,

Hehe, actually, I’ve have very little, to zero offical art training. I would say 90% of what I’ve learned, I’ve learned through trial and error, and through other great artist in places like this. I graduated from Biola University last May (in southern California) with an English Writing degree. I decided to go into writing instead of art because I thought I would have better chances making money writing than doing art. I’ve changed my mind on that matter, but I’m not sorry that I majored in English. Now I can do art AND write. I got my first copy of Potoshop my freshman year in college (five years ago) and my first (crapy) tablet a year after that. My art really started to improve when I got an Intuos 3 for Christmas, almost a year ago. Right now I’m working as a graphic designer/receptionist/web master at a church. Some day I hope to illustrate my own children’s books.

I’ll think about it. Right now my schedule is a little full, so I’m not sure how regularly I would be able to post. But we’ll see.

csgirl,

Thanks for the info! It’s always cool to hear about people’s non~virtual lives.

Ah, cool, I knew someone who went to Biola years ago…she really liked it a lot. It was pretty close, I think, to Pasadena? I went to school in So. Cal, so I’m a bit familiar with the schools around there.

Hey, I think it’s great you do both art and writing. And I always marvel at people who are self~taught. As for me, if someone doesn’t show me how to do something, I’m a bit hard pressed to learn. :scream:

No worries if you don’t want to post a personal Anatomy thread ~ that’s what all of the other zillions of threads here are for! If you can think of it, we probably have a thread for it ~ just do a search, and you’ll most likely turn up a thread for your desired category.

Well, we’re happy to have you in OFDW 005 ~ it’s exciting to see all of the cool work being posted. I hope that when you have time after the OFDW, you will continue to contribute to the Anatomy forum!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak
