Looking forward to seeing your work! You know, as a side note, I saw your piece in the Caricatures thread, and it’s amazing! :applause: But for some reason, I haven’t been able to reply to the darn thread for 2 days, and it’s driving me nuts! But anyhoo, just wanted to let you know it’s a great piece! Thanks for posting it.

Cheers,

Hearts around the world just stopped beating, did you feel that?

Another round of great reference images, thanks to the models and hosts of the thread. Although, I’m still working off of Zhuzhu’s images, I’ll try to move my focus over here shortly to join in the fun.

Cheers! Any bets as to who posts their work first?

#7

Everyone,

Liang was glad she could help out.

I am sure that some of the work you guys will make over the coming weeks will become instant desktop in her dads office.

Good luck all, and if I have time I will try to contribute this round too.

hi Rebeccak,

These photos look great! i recently took a bunch of pics of my roommate and me to create my own ‘figure drawing’ class, but this one looks great to join!

I’m kind of new to CGSociety, so I’m not sure how all this works. do we have to create a concept theme out of each photo or are these for rough/sketching practicing purposes?

it’s great you’re doing this!!

moraisins,

Great to have you with us!

We have run 4 previous Open Figure Drawing Workshops (OFDWs), all of which can be found linked here:

Tutorials, Workshops, Anatomy Reviews & More … [links within]

(See Post # 3)

Please feel free to check these out to see how the other OFDWs have gone…there is a lot of incredible work ~ you might want to start looking through a few of these, and go from the back to the front, as more finished work is posted towards the back.

You may draw / paint / sculpt from the photos in whatever way you wish ~ if you wish to add bkgrds to figures, etc., that is totally fine, so long as the work is done in good taste.

I encourage everyone to post WIP (Work in Progress) as it allows everyone to critique and be critiqued in a positive way, and also lets everyone share their work processes.

Great to have you aboard, and look forward to your work!

pushav,

Nice work so far! This blocked~in approach works well for you. I think you ought to try the same blocked~in approach with a grayscale painting of this in either Photoshop, or preferably, for you, Painter.

Cheers,

I can’t do that when it comes to painting. I always use the coloring book approach.

I can’t do that when it comes to painting. I always use the coloring book approach.

Why not try Sheff’s technique traditionally? Or, instead of painting additively, paint subtractively? In other words, create a drawing. Create a new layer above the drawing layer, fill it with 50% white. Create a new layer above that layer, fill it with 75% black. Erase out with a low opacity eraser from the darker layer to find the highlights. The key, you know, is to try stuff out and practice. Saying “I can’t do that” wears out after a while.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

I have tried all of that stuff and it never comes out looking good. So I went back to the coloringbook style. I have to say inbetween the lines lol.
