Noting Color Used in a Work with Painter

#1

What is your technique for keeping track or noting which colors were used in a work? An example would be to keep a correlation to traditional pigments so that you always have a reference color when working on a project.

Most people simply have a separate layers just to paint in the important core colors they’re using as little blobs, so they can go back and sample those colors as needed.

Hello Lunatique,

Thanks for that great tip. I had not thought of keeping a layer record like that.

Painter has a feature called “Annotations”. If you name the colors in your color set, you can use annotations, which are little call-outs that point to where specific colors are used in your painting. It’s located under the Canvas menu > Annotations > Annotate…

I’ve never used this feature, though.
