What is your technique for keeping track or noting which colors were used in a work? An example would be to keep a correlation to traditional pigments so that you always have a reference color when working on a project.

Most people simply have a separate layers just to paint in the important core colors they’re using as little blobs, so they can go back and sample those colors as needed.

Painter has a feature called “Annotations”. If you name the colors in your color set, you can use annotations, which are little call-outs that point to where specific colors are used in your painting. It’s located under the Canvas menu > Annotations > Annotate…
I’ve never used this feature, though.
