Hey guys,
I’m wondering if I could get some advice on how to move forward on my model.
Here are a few images of my current model:

My objective with the model is to create a folio piece that showcases most facets of modelling, animation and rigging capability. It really needs to wow. This accompanies sketches and design processes of this mech to create a rounded project piece.
Currently I have created some basic diffuse, spec and normal maps to create a rough Idea of what I would like my model to look like, but I’m just not sure how to create more bang for my buck moving forward.
For instance, should I be looking to increase the poly count to add more detail, or should I derive that detail from the normal map?
With the diffuse, It clearly has the desired effect of breaking the silhouette, but I want to tone that down to a combination of a great silhouette with a defined camouflage pattern (over at least some of the paneling). Any suggestions?
Im leaning towards increasing the poly count for far more detail, but at what point do my returns diminish? It currently stands as appropriate to be 3d printed at a 300mm height model if so desired, but could more be pulled from it?
