Normal map problem

Hi all, i have just started my career as a character artist and ran in to a problem with normal maps. How to create normal maps for complex character? This character have cloth, hear, holster and Gun in it. When i create normal maps, they also project on the surface underneath the cloth or any other object. How to avoid it?

Please advice on the work flow.

Use different shaders for each object - if you don’t do that, you’ll have to make all the uv’s fit in the same map, or use UDIMs, but that’s not the easy way -
