Normal Map problem pls hep

Hello,

I am new in forum my english is not nice but I will try to show my problem.

First as you see my high mesh and normal map is different.This is just test in my other models there is no problem like this but in these models normal maps always have problem dont know why please help.

are you smoothing the uvs for your target model in the bake settings…?

No, UVs are same I tried 2 version smooth position(not UVs) and without smooth hard edge version but result is same pls help this project really important.

Uvs are same No Smoothing for uvs.I tried 2 ways first smooth model(not uvs) second without smooth subdivide but results are same whats problem :frowning:

maybe turning edges… your objects looks realy low…
could you try to triangulate the mesh first…

How can I triangulate mesh?Sorry for this question but I dont know. And yes model is low but is it effects the normal Map?

if the mesh is really low its hard to get a clean normalmap…
to triangulate the model you have to use max, maya or any other polymodeler…

I am using maya and yes poly is low but this Map problem is not about poly I think because as you see problem is not about quality it changes every sculpt to bad I Will try triangulate.I hope it will change something.

If it wont could you give me some advice about adding poly(not much because already have enough poly without character) I can Show wireframe if you need and thank you for answers.

yes please post a screen shot… the lowpoly with hard soft edges and a uv screen…
to show soft hard edges do the following…

select the object --> shift + right mouse button --> Soften/Harden Edge --> Toggle Soft Edge Display

note that these are part of a two sided sword but only these two have problem.

now i can see the problem…

you have soft edges on your mesh with an angle higher than 60°…
normalmaps dont work well if the surface normal is bend like this…

you have to set more hard edges to get a clean shading on the low mesh…
than you have to import the object with fbx to mudbox to get those hard edges also in mudbox…

you also have to cut the uvs on all hard edges to avoid artefacts…

Thank you for answer.
You mean harden models own edges or create new edges on model.For bend thing surface had to be bend for concept.So what should I do harden edges or add more edges on model.

you dont have to add more edges…

just make them hard…
select edge --> shift + right mouse button --> Soften/Harden Edge --> Harden Edge

or use the automatic soft/hard Tool and clean it up…
select edge --> shift + right mouse button --> Soften/Harden Edge --> Soften/Harden[] 60°

But when I dont smooth and subdivide in mudbox all edges were being hard(and same problem) these two are not same? just asking.

you import those new object only for baking…
you still have your highres in the scene…
and bake fromt the high to your new low mesh…

the problem is I am adding more edge to copy of model in maya for good smooth in mudbox and exporting it and sculpting on it.Still this Set normal angle can work on exporting model or we need another solution?And I exported as fbx but still harden edges not seen in mudbox but I hardened them.

you have to turn on smoothing groups in maya to export with fbx…

Now it is ok.I tried now it better than before really thank you but again normal map have problems.Problem is not about poly I looked another sculpted models of CGs and even they were low, normal maps were nice but as you see my tests have that problem not good normal map.this is not always happens but anyway this is just bad for me.Shouldnt I smooth model?But it isnt works again if I subdivide without smooth,UVs are same so what should I do?

First I know triangles not working good at mudbox but at this piece even normal cube have problems so model is here look I am waiting for response.Smoothed model,ready for smooth model and low mesh here.
