Normal Map export errors

#1

So I’m trying to paint some minor displacement onto my model, mainly seam piping. Everything looks great in the mudbox vieport, but when I export my normal maps have wierd lines and glitches in them and I can’t figure out why. You can see it the most around the ring in the lower left hand corner, that should be just a straight raised line, which is the way it appears in the mudbox viewport. Any ideas?

Is it possible to maybe export as a height map and then somehow convert that to a normal map?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’m trying to get this done and get out of work for my vacation and this is really holding me up.

Thanks in advance.

Just for the fun of it, I tried importing the low res mesh, then without smoothing it, exported a normal map with the low res mesh as botht the target and source mesh. Interestingly, this gave me those same errors in the normal map.

This leads me to believe that it is a problem with my UV layouts, however I can’t think of what it could be. I have ample bleed around all the UV pieces between each other and the edge of UV space. Originally I had overlapping UVs (to save space for this game model) but I fixed that and the problem still persisted.

Any ideas?
