NOOB with NURBS

#1

I’ve got a skinned object setup in Blender using NURBS circles. The object is open at each end of its geometry, and I want to cap it at each end. I haven’t found any documentation that explains how to cap NURBS surfaces.

Can a NURBS surface be capped in Blender?

Do I need to create a seperate object that “fits” the gaps at each end of the object?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Theoretically you should use filled curves, but they can be only flat and it is hard to fit them in. The better option would be to duplicate ending curve and then extrude it and scale to zero the extrusion. This way you get flat plane which can flex if needed. The type of both surfaces should be endpoint and the resolution exactly the same so there is no problem in rendering. You could also just extrude the last edge and scale to zero and then again select this row and give it some high weight like 50 - but it will never be absolutely sharp and it is a waste of geometry.

Thanks for the input, dac77, I’ll give this a try…

… I think this option will work.

Thanks again.
