Noob Q: Silo aligning of vertices & snapping

#1

Hi,

Finally found my way around in Silo and love it. However:

If I…

  1. Select for example 5 vertices with different Y-values
  2. Have enabled snapping to “component”
  3. Drag over another vertex point (with the Y-value I want for the 5 ones selected)

= result: it keeps the “distance” of the 5 vertices dragged. (The distance range).

If I do this one by one it works as expected.

Are there any way for me to solve this for a group of vertices? Any keyboard shortcut etc I have overlooked?

Thanks!!

Moo.

If I understand correctly, you can simply scale (or flatten command) the selected vertices to zero in Y before you drag them into position.

Thank you for your suggestions! I have tried flatten, etc. and it works to “some” extent, but not completely. Will look at more tutorials online and try to figure this one it; it is obviously not Silo but me

Scale works for this type of operation. Hope this helps or maybe someone else has a better solution.

Thank you so much! That was more than I could have hoped for and does make sense to align the axis of verts before snapping to another vertex axis. It did work; however not 100% as in it has some small error margins on the -1.732 sets at 1.730 for another vertex point in the group selection; but seriously that is close enough for me  So case closed! Thank you!!
