noob: i need help, with paint tidying.

i have been looking at a painter on ‘you tube’, his name is ‘reiq’ and paints manga\ fantasy, his tutorials show how to paint inked drawings, when he is painting his layers the paint overlaps the edges of the ink and isnt very acurate at first. i was wondering what technique is used to tidy up the edges once the painting has been complete or how the keep the paint in the bounderies of the inked section. thanks in advance

If the lineart is closed you can use the magicwand set to contiguos to select the outside area then go back at the layer with the paints and cut the excess by pressing control+x.
