Noisy/grainy skin

“Noisy” Skin

Hi, This is my first post here. Sorry for my English :slight_smile:

I’ve got a problem with skin on the photo.
I’m trying to get kind of commercial/advertising effect with this realy nice smooth skin with the detail like this :

but when I put my photo into photoshop, and put any type of Adjustment etc
the skin become ugly, the shadows look very bad. I was trying to use different softening skin techniques, but they doesn’t work, and I don’t know if it is photo fault, and there is nothing to do, or mine :slight_smile:

they look like they have a Sandstone Texture that can be found in Filter>Texture>Texturizer

i did something real quick to your photo

is that what you’re looking for?

in the Texturizer window mention above i used the settings:

Texture: Sandstone
Scaling: 64
Relief: 2
Light: Top Right
you don’t have to use these settings. play around with them to see what you like the most

then i went to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast and changed the settings to enhance the look.

again though, you don’t have to mess with the Brightness/Contrast. i only did because i was trying to mimic one of the images you posted

But I’m looking for more “soft” skin effect, like on adverts: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Become-stronger/9951885. The skin on the photo is very noisy and not sharp enough…

I think this is photo fault, so unfortunately I must do another photo, or “redraw” whole skin…
