Noise Displacer Question

I have displacer on a cylinder inside a boole creating a wobbly hole in a plane.
I’d like to have a torus running around the edge of that hole but when I duplicate the displacer onto the (spline that is creating the) torus the displacement isn’t the same. Am I going about this the wrong way?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Scene attached.

I changed the displacer direction to circular and it matches now.
