Nods On Compositing

#1

Hello friends,

I’m fairly new on compositing and I want to use it only for compositing my multipass renders. I saw that some of the compsiting applications like Shake and Fusion using a node based system - I’m not sure how it works but is this kind of option available on After FX ? - like plugin.

Has anyone using After FX for multiplass rendering compositings? Or I have to use Fusion or Toxik - because Shake is not an option for me.

Thanks in advance…

There is just a read only graph you can look at in AE but no actual way to work like Shake/Fusion. AE is a layered based app and Shake/Fusion are node based. Two separate beasts.

Just about any compositor out there including AE can be used for multipass compositing.

Closest thing to nodes in AE is that flowchart thingie. You can’t access any parameter from there but since you have to precompose that much in AE it’s a good way to see how everything is connected.
Also by double pressing the Shift key you get a small window popping up where you can see which comp comes before/after your current one.

You don’t have to care about premut/unpremult in AE, not sure if this is a good thing though.

Multipass compositing is doable, but I personally prefer node based programs for that.
