yes i know, a lot of people stumbled across that problem and i couldn’t find a solution. but is it true that we are stuck with having no alphas in IFFs and Tiffs anymore ? as i use it to post renderings i really need that feature and i don’t understand why all of a sudden i don’t work anymore. it used to work, so where is the problem ?
no alphas in tiffs/iffs
hy,
chewedon: sure i could do that or use tga, but since i am using maya i like working with the native imageformat. and iff used to have a alpha channel in CS3 so i don’t understand why it know is handled differently.
The Neverman: with these two formats (with tga it was the same for some PS-Versions, but then they fixed it) there is no alpha channel, but the backgroundlayer is masked(cutout) by the alphachannel. this is not a problem inside PS since i still have the information, but as soon as i save the file it gets flattened and the alpha information is gone. i could of course make a selection of the mask and save that as alpha channel, but if i have to do that for a imagesequence, no thank you. so i hope they do the same as with the tga and fix that issue in future releases or there is a workaround what i would prefer.
