Newbie questions about animation software

#1

I’m posting this here since the General Discussion forum doesn’t permit these kind of questions. Hopefully its ok here.

I have no experience in CGI or non CG art, but I find myself in need of being able to do some very simple animation, because I want to start a Youtube channel.

I’ve decided I want to do simple 2D animation, something as simple as the animation on the Youtube channels Crash Course and Prager University would be fine for me.

I’m curious as to what would be the easiest and simplest to use software for someone without any CGI skills and someone who also doesn’t have too much time to sink into something complicated. So I’m looking for simplicity and ease of use over powerful functionality.

And, as a side question, is it possible to guess at what this video was done in:

Pop over to Toon Boom. Their popular Harmony suite of 2D related products has a diverse user base ranging from hobbyist through to pro, so check it out if a suitable fit for your current needs. Also that linked YT vid, at a glance possibly made using this application or a similar 2D solution.

Does the suggestion worked well with you?

I ended up going for Crazytalk Animator. Incidnetally, does anyone know anything else similar to that?

I’m looking for something like that where designing a character is mostly a matter of selecting pre-drawn (or pre-modeled) elements like hair, clothes, head shape and animation is very easy, too.
