That is a damned fine site. I think it would seem a little more stylized if you used one of your own chars instead of the biped. The biped looks great, don’t get me wrong, but adding your own character would give it that extra oomf.
The music is absolutely wonderfull. It doesn’t fit with EVERYTHING on the site, but it fits with enough of it that it still seems right.
I really like your modeling style, I’m a particular fan of that horse. The only thing i don’t like about it is when i saw it animated it looks like its front femurs were bending as it walked, or they were just bent the whole time in a way that just looks odd at that angle.
Your animation is what i loved most, though. I wasn’t as impressed with the walk cycles as I was with your other animations. The cycles just seemed a little rigid on some of them, but still better than I can do so oh well.
The site itself is very easy to navigate and very entertaining. The little animation cylces are nice and fit the music very well.
I’d have to say well done all around. Everyone should take the time to download his demo reel and watch it, its very good.
dude they were some pretty cool animations, at first the cowboy dude was reminding me too much of woody, but i soon got over that because it was all pretty cool. i was just wondering have all these animations come from some sort of short you have done, is this a finished work of some sort?
only thing in the demo real was when you put you other work in the middle of all the western stuff it didn’t seem to fit in, like with the old film effects happening, they just seemed out of place to be slapped in the middle of it all.
i love the old look you have with western 3d stuff, i’m not talking about the filters and stuff, the actual environment has a cool old animation feel to it, like the way its rendered, textured or lit, i’m not sure what it is. do you have any comments on how you have achieved this look? and yeah i’m not talking about the black and white look or the filters, unless that is all that has been done. would be cool to have some insight.![]()
the only other thing was in you web page if you turned off the sound and then went to another section and then came back the sound was back on, that was a little annoying coz i didn’t want the sound on after a while. and maybe the sound symbols should be swapped round the other way, so when the sound is off there is a cross through it. personal preference though.
Hey, nice animations.
I just wanted to note that I’m not sure if this is only me, but when the music for the reel is playing, I stop paying attention to the animation and start thinking about the song.
Well… the most part of these animations come from “Fenimore Fillmore The westerner” from Revistronic (www.revistronic.com) it’s an adventure game developed here in spain and sold over the world. Just por PC platforms. So in that video there is a part of my work animating Fenimore and other characters.
The cycles allways have something wrong with them because you can see them repeat time though time so you can notice the failures in them, and also they are always doing the same so at last they seem like robotic movement. In acting movements all its diferent and only it’s done once.
The feeling of old, it’s just filtering… but rendering with Vray, and overburning light… just that.
Now it’s time to look for a job in USA… I am crazy for getting inside a company like Pixar, PDI, or great of them. Don’t know if I have the level for it. Have still to learn a lot, but here in spain it’s very dificult for that porpuse.
