Hello CG society.
I would like to share with you some good economic news coming from our state.
Front page Newspaper article explaining how GOOD our economy is and how its actually recovering.
This is on top of our states film incentives which is exactly why Im writing here on CG talk today. For those of you who may not know Terminator Salvation was filmed here…So was/is Transformers 1 and 2. The website to our states film industry is NMFILM.COM. From there you might be amazed as to just how much is actually going on here in “The Land of Enchantment”.
Heres what the article stated :Albuquerque Journal:
-Newly arrived companies are hiring.
-Investment Capital is available and looking for deals.
-More out of state companies are considering investing in ABQ.
-Pockets of the state, especially in the south are holding up well.
I would also like to share with CG society the amazing fact that New Mexico will soon be home to the worlds first civilian space port. Sir Richard Branson and his company Virgin has finalized its plans to build a space port in Southern New Mexico. Rides into space will start at roughly 150,000 US dollars.
New Mexico will also be home to the countries largets Solar collection faciliyt and will also possibly be the largest manufacturer of solar panels as the German company “Schott” is setting up shop here too.
Sony animation has in the past acknowledged their plans to relocate here…They do currently have a small satelite facility in one of our downtown buildings where multiple upper-level sony people have already begun working on some of their newest animations including “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.”
New Mexico has and still does play a vital role in computer technology…For those of you who didnt know.-Bill Gates was arrested here.(google it) Now I dont know if thats gonna make ya want to come here more but I cant see it hurting. He did smile tho…
We have two national labs that have continued research in computer technologies and a whole host of smaller companies that offer them services…I want to make it clear we are a state full of geeks.
I do think its worth looking into for any studio wishing to become our states true first post production house…I also believe that once one moves here, there will be many that decide to be followers. Look into it…research what we offer and I think you will be surprised.
