new Bryce forum??

How about a Bryce forum? Thats whats missing here.

I know there is a need for a Blender forum, other wise it is difficult to handle.

I know Bryce is very easy to handle (nothing for Blender pros ;)), cannot create meshes but I like e.g. the deep texture editor or the skylab or: you can make great plasma with it.
And if there is a forum for all kind of 3D issues then Bryce should be there, too, and if it is just for having the data complete.

DAZ is currently upgrading Bryce so that it might be more versatile in the future.

This is such a lame poll.

I don’t think a Bryce forum should be on CGTalk . It’s not that we don’t like it because it’s too cheap.

Agreed. I don’t think a Bryce forum should be on CGTalk either.

That poll is rigged so that you can’t say just say “no” without calling Bryce ‘cheap’

I didn’t vote because my answer is not in the propositions, bryce is simply not a professional package…not a price question…
Wings 3d is free and 10000 times more powerful than Bryce…

Let the pros softwares on their side and the toywares on the other :rolleyes:

I voted “I dont like Bryce because it is too cheap.” – only because the person who started the thread didn’t give a “No” in the poll. It should be a “Yes” or “No” poll, with no reasons attached.

So, you dont like software which costs only 79 bucks?
how about that junkware render then? its for free and still has a place in this forum.
Well, bryce can give you effects you cant even achieve with other programs like nice plasma effects.
I tried wings3d but guess people only like wings because it has a mesh editor.
To tell you, the mesh edititor of Metasequoia, another free program is much better.

Your poll is really lame because it doesn’t have give people the ability to make an objective vote of “Yes” or “No” regardless of why they think there should or shouldn’t be a Bryce forum on CGTalk. Nobody cares whether Bryce is $79.

Plasma effects? Yeah whatever. Go to Renderosity.com.

I put in the poll this way beacuse I know how much some people, especially in this forum dislike Bryce. Beacuse they are OBJECTIVE???
I think: if you dont like then dont enter that forum, but I also think: Bryce can do interesting things which other programs can not do, and should be included in a Computer Graphics Forum and if it is just for completion.

You really need to add a “No, because CGTalk doesn’t need a Bryce forum” option to your poll.

It’s not about the fact that the program is cheap, but the fact that it has no place on a forum like CGTalk. The majority of users here do not use Bryce, so why would they need a forum for it here?

Just accept it and move on buddy.

Milkman Dan, let me tell you one thing sunny,
the MAJORITY is also not using Blender but even that junk has a place here.

BTW, now I cannot ad any more NO or YES to the poll because the software wouldnt allow it.

Man, Blender is used by some people here.
And you comparing Blender to bryce with a big junk adjective…

sorry to say that, but even if blender is Open Source, it kick Bryce ass very far away. Call it junk just prove you didn’t even tried Blender before. Think before you speak, as now you request will be totally ignored.
You should be aware of what cgtalk is before asking anything. It’s for the professional persons (not tools!) who is looking for good stuff on a relative large feild of cg activities.
->Of course bryce fit in this description. But it’s no popular enough as it’s not very ussefull when you have any package else listed on this board.
This mean if you get you bryce forum, it will not be very active, so: useless. Take only space.
Then , look at how many package dedicated forum we got. it’s already too much. We fighted to get blender in front page. But moderator try to not add too much stuff as there is already enough.

Consider this before replying.

I usually work with Lightwave but I also love Bryce because I like some effects you can only create with Bryce. If you would try it then you would also say: you can do a lot with it, the renderer coud be faster but gives convincing effects and it costs only 79 bucks, so you dont loose a lot of money buying it. For Blender better they pay people to use it. And Wings: useful to make cubes with rounded corners, reminds me of the good old MS-DOS times…
The next version, Bryce5.5 is coming out soon and will supposedly bring some major improvements. The price will be a hefty 99.95US$.

Horrible is a lame and popular excuse. Let say not as simple as bryce.

You work on Lightwave? then you should know what modeling mean.
Bryce have some preset stuff, ok. it’s faster when you just have to press a button.

cant imagine so many real votes were cast in such a short time with a total number of 13 viewers. Now we know why there is no Bryce forum. Because the vote is always manipulated by the cgtalk chaps.

Are you sure you dont work for GeorgeW Bush? He is also a specialist in vote rigging.

The thread was viewed 190 times. It’s plausible that many people voted against Bryce on the poll. Knowing CGTalk well enough I’d say that’s probably right.

Consider what you’ve done:

  • You started a poll that has no objective way of voting “yes” or “no”.
  • You flame everyone who differs in view to you. People here don’t want a Bryce forum and even though people respond to you politely, you flame them.
  • You start a whole other thread after the moderators close that thread because of your stupid, inflammatory comments.
  • You flame Gabio for voting 75 times on the poll when it’s IMPOSSIBLE to do that. Each member can only vote ONCE.
  • You accuse CGTalk of rigging the poll, with no evidence, and your poll was silly to begin with.

Face it pal, people here don’t want a Bryce forum. They’ve voted against it fair and square. Now stop wasting everyone’s time with your silly threads please.
