New Blender Motion Capture Tools

#1

I saw a nice new Blender addon.
The addon makes the handling of motion capture files easily.

hate to be rude, but that guy needs to speak up or get a new mic.

That said, I’ve often wondered what Blender’s capacities for mo-cap are.

What is the usual procedure for motion capture?

What programs are used to record it, formats used to export it, and key data ports to transpose on the blender rig?

I believe that whenever doing motion-capture that you’ll use the hardware vendors software to capture and out-put .BVH files.

Please don’t qoute me on that though.

Once you’re in Blender, well I haven’t actually delved into the workings properly but I’d imagine it’s a case of cleaning up the keyframes and then re-targeting the bone structure to either drive another rig if you’re doing animation on-top of the motion-capture, or to just re-target the motion-capture rig directly to the mesh for a simple animation out-put.

What’s nice about this suite of tools the OP linked to is that it looks like it is free! Great find OP, I look forward to trying these out in the near future…
