Network rendering with Infinite

#1

I just installed the sidegrade for Vue 6 Infinite. (I’d previously had 6 Pro Studio).

I hope I’m missing something obvious, but when I try to open the HyperVue network manager to go find my cows, I get nothing.

Render Options – External renderer (click edit) – Hypervue Network Manager, click edit, and nothing happens. Nada. Niet. Bupkus.

HyperVue worked fine with 6PS - and being able to use all the processors in my farm setup was one reason I upgraded.

Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong?

Have you uninstalled ther Pro Cows and installed the Infinite ones on your computer? Does not sound like. They have the same names but are NOT the same and Infinite can only deal with cows from the same race. OR, if you want to use both programs for network rendering, you have to define different channels for the two programs. Pro for example 5001 and Infinite 5002. In the cows and in the HyperVue managers.

I will double check that there are no stray Pro Cows on my slave boxes. I’m pretty sure I uninstalled them before I reinstalled the new Cows. I can’t even get the HyperVue manager to launch, let alone see how it’s handling my cows.

thanks for that tip, though.

Welcome to Hypervue! If you can’t even get hypervue to launch then it’s not the cows. First of all go to the e-on site and make sure you are running the latest updates. If that still doesn’t work, then do a thorough unistall of vue inf, reboot and reinstall, and apply latest update. If it’s still no good, contact an e-on tech - the tech support seems to have got much better recently.

HyperVue worked great with ProStudio. I upgraded so that I could milk all of my quad processors. Apparently that’s what rendergreed gets me.

I just posted on e-on’s site, which I’m familliar with since I spent about 4 hours and 5 phone calls just to get a serial number for my downloaded upgrade.

On the bright side, I am already liking Infinite better. Even my internal renders seem to be significantly faster.

thanks much for the help!

Turned out I needed to download and install an update. Everything seems to be working fine now.
