Job Description
• Create original concepts and designs for the production that appear in the show (including turnarounds/rotations when requested)
• Cleanup and colors all designs
• Create matte painting, backdrops, and other 2D graphics for production
• Complete work assigned within the scheduled timeframe
• Keep designs manageable and in line with the modeling days allotted for it
• Read script and discuss concepts with Lead Designer
• Accept feedback on designs and executes on changes promptly
• Participates in production-related meetings offering thoughts and ideas
• Stay up to date with shows by watching animatics and storyboard
• Maintains the show style with designs and keeps designs working within the story specifications
• Communicate effective and production-friendly solutions when the requests of the client or other department heads are not possible within production timelines
• Keeps their work orders current and accurate in the Design Approval System (DAS)
• Keeps Design Coordinator in the loop on all activities and any issues that may arise
• File management – keep files efficiently organized
• Carry out all duties in a professional and positive manner

We are currently in production on Storm Hawks, a 3-D animated television series airing in 2007 on YTV in Canada and Cartoon Network in the US, UK, France and Latin America. Produced primarily in Softimage XSI, the animation and visual aesthetic draws inspiration from both Japanese and North American graphic and classical styles including Anime, Comic Book and Disney. In keeping with our philosophy as a company, this project will enable our employees to push the boundaries of CG animation and create a long overdue “fresh look” for this medium in the television production environment.
