Sorry for the newbie question but I want to make an animation look like live action. I want to know the process of how I would go about doing so. This:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us look real like aslan(narnia) or jacob’s werewolf off twilight. What tools would I need besides blender and what renderer and how I could take any wizard 101(www.wizard101.com ) scenes look like real? This is a personal project. Thanks.

I’m afraid this is a bit of a newbie question. To ask people how to make an animation look like “live action” is like rocking up to a sculpture class and asking how to sculpt a Pieta. Seriously, it’s a really general, nigh impossible request. Even the most skilled, experienced animators and artists struggle with achieving photorealism. Try developing skills from the tutorial threads, and experimenting with the different free and PLE editions of commonly used programs. I personally use blender, it’s a good free all-rounded one which can more or less cover whatever you want to do with plugins and external renderers like Yafray.

You need Blender and a combination of (any of) the following:

  1. yafaray
  2. luxrender
  3. POV-ray
  4. Gimp
  5. mental ray
  6. vray
  7. Photoshop

If you don’t have enough cash to acquire propriety software like vray, Photoshop and mental ray … then yafaray, luxrender, and POV-ray should be fine. Do your touch-ups with Gimp and you’re good to go. If you’re going to be taking scenes that are “cartoony”, and you’re hoping to get realism … your results will be less than real. Try making your own scenes.
