Need help getting started (newbie)

Hello all, im new to zbrush and am finding it quite tricky. Ive looked around at a number of tutorials and so on but still feel very out of my depth. Id like to make a helmet and sword from these guys…

but dont know where to begin. Eventually id like to try out the full figures. Would anyone be able to help me out?

for the helmet i would start out with dynamesh sphere and a panel loop for the face cutout.

this videos should get you started.
