Need advice regarding Masters in Visual Effects

#1

Hi,

I just graduated with a Bachelors of Science in I.T and thinking of going for a masters program in the US. I am currently working as a texturing artist with DreamWorks Animation in India (4 years and counting) and previously I studied at Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood, CA where I got an advanced diploma in Visual Effects and majored in Lighting and Texturing.

I I was looking at SCAD in Atlanta, GA …they seem to have a pretty decent MFA program but I am inclined towards being in California as most of my family lives there. Can anyone suggest any reputed colleges in California which offer a good masters program in visual effects or any similar trade.

Thanks!

Response: Why do you want an MFA? Everything that an MFA program could teach you was probably taught in Gnomon. You already have a good job with a top studio, so why would you leave that? I don’t think that getting an MFA will improve either your skills or your ability to get better jobs.

I agree with your point. I am quite confident of my skills and my ability to produce good personal work but after working for almost 5 years, I have some time to spare and I wanna study a bit more, maybe make some contacts, refresh my knowledge of the current gen tools. That and Plus I figured having a masters degree won’t hurt me :stuck_out_tongue:
