Awesome stuff. Keep it coming.
My Urban Sketch Thread (mature content)
This was an experiment in style; taking some of the aspects with my usual style and then incorporating a bit of psuedo japanese art with urban street graf.
Its my first attempt with this idea and would love to get your thoughts…

looks damn cool to me, and i’m not very fond of japanese styles…
but the combination looks really cool
Thanks for the kind words folks!
Here’s my latest. Another experiment with this new style. This one took about 30minutes.

i like that a lot too. puts the focus more on the silhouette obviously, which works particularly well if the character as such has an interesting shape or if you put them in such dramatic/stylish poses. your characters work really well in that aspect anyways.
edit: i might add that in post 40, i like how you managed to get the BG/foreground separation done by putting in those architectual elements in there with just the right contrast. editedit: oops… dang, i meant post 42 of course;)
A lot of this stuff is just for fun. Quick sketchs at the start or end of a long day of derawing stuff that someone else wants me to draw.
A lot of these a just quick 30 minute sketch exercises to get the mind flowing, usally based on random sketch topics or just quick ideas i had in my head.
What I enjoy about this thread is each of your posts always contains work that is so simple and always complete. It feels much like an exhibition rather than someone showing you their sketch pad, as is the feeling I get from a lot of sketch threads on the forum.
There’s an elegance to your simplicity that I really enjoy. I’d love to see these works hanging on walls in youth centres.
i really like your work, it’s amazing
very cool subjects… combinations and etc
your style is very unique and etc…
Wow, folks. Thanks for the really positive comments.
Glad you like the stuff.
ryanmorgan - I have done a bit of stroryboard work in the past. A lot of it is for tv commercials when my company promotes a new toy. I’ll see if i can dig something up.
In the meantime, here’s my latest 3ominute sketch.

awesome. so these only take a few minutes? how long does it take to get the finished peice? do you edit it them in photoshop or what?
Great stuff bro, i think your take on the japanese stuff was very cool. Love the action doodles too!
wow dude… although I don´t like much of weapons and similar things… I must admite that you last images are so awesome… your strongest style put in’em… so attraktive to see…
congratulations and greets again fo ya RED…
Thanks again for the comments folks!
ryanmorgan89 - these sketchs take 30minutes. Each morning the illustrators at my work do quick warm up sketchs with 30 minute time limits. I also place these kind of restrictions on my home stuff as well. It frees up my style and linework. They are generally all done straight into photoshop - drawn directly in using a 9x12 wacom.
as for fully rendered piecs i guess i find due to the minimal amount of spare time i have i don’t do as much fully rendered stuff these days. I love the idea of start to finish in short time.
In the past i have done pieces that have taken anywhere between 10-20 hours i guess?
thats pretty impressive… it would be really cool if you had any spare time on your hands if you actually showed the process of one of your sketches from beginning to end. i’m sure others would like to see too! just an idea. btw im amazed at each new peice everytime i come to this thread. its inspiring
