My Urban Sketch Thread (mature content)
thanks for the kind words, folks!
Jpedro - looked at you thread the other day. Wow has you stuff come along in leaps and bounds. You must be on the drawing steroids these days!
Very awesome stuff!
Here’s my latest little sketch. Knocked it over before work one morning.

another speedy before work…
this gunfighter is older than clint eastwood.
I think i’ll call him bones westwood.

Dude… you have a really unique style too… I worth that so much… cuz every day be more and more peoples doing the same…!!!
congratulations and keep so high your work…!!
Thanks heaps for the kind comments folks.
Always very satisfying to get such positive comments
from such talented artists as yourselves!
Here’s my latest. It was a sketch i did ages ago and went back and reworked
as i always kinda liked it.

Yeah, I see why you like it, the newer one looks badass!
How’d you come up with your unique style? Is it totally random or do you try to be consistent each time?
Also, about how long does it take you to complete a piece?
exStatic1 - thanks for the kind words. As a rough guide to time taken, the left hand side version was done as a 30 minute sketch. I then spent and addition 1 1/2 hours (maybe a bit less) to get it to the right hand side version. Approx 2hours for the whole piece.
As for how i came up with this style, i’m not sure. It just sort of evolved that way. It wierd because in my job we have to draw in so many differnt styles you become rather surprised when you develop your own. I guess i just developed a style that worked fast, and due to the nature of the stuff i usually draw the colors are usually fairly saturated.
Awesome sketches!
I like your style.
I really like the sketchiness on your last drawing.
Also the texture you give to some of your backgrounds is great, it looks like it’s done with watercolor.
Really nice work!
would love to see more.
Thanks Memorial,
Here’s my latest. Its another 30minute sketch that i went back and spent an hour on.

I absolutely LOVE this style, I like to draw with a street/graffiti style occasionally, and i like the way you pull this off, reminds me of some work by a favorite artist of mine “Craola”. Awesome pictures dude. Awesome.
Thanks for the kind words Jeffromundus.
I love Greg Simkins’ (craola) work as well. Have probably picked up a bit of influence from his stuff. To say my work work reminds you a little of his stuff is a great compliment indeed.
Checked out your portfolio page and noticed you were new to CG society. Would love to see some more of your stuff, especially your graff stuff!
This one was a 30min morning dailty sketch topic before work.
Subject was myself as a tree.

I would love to see some of this artwork as graffiti, on walls and the side of buildings. Your style would look fantastic in large scale and, I would imagine, wouldn’t be too difficult to enlarge because of the general simplicity of your style.
You mentioned your work (occupation) and having to adopt many styles. What sort of job do you have and which style do you enjoy the most (other than what you’ve shown here)?
My latest scribble.
Greenham - i work as an illustrator for a toy company. Of the styles i’ve had to do i’ll always prefer the fairly loose quick character sketchs.
Somewhat similar to this i guess.
