my Interactive Flash Aquarium =)

#1

hello! just thought I’d share my latest creation with everyone… it started out as 2 fishies swimming back and forth, then i got bored and started adding other sea creatures… then got further bored and added some interactivity like “dragging”… and finally, out of ultimate boredom, gave it full functionality like, life meter, fish food, sickness… and death. see what boredom can do for one’s creativity? =P

if i had planned this out better, the aquarium would run more efficiently and wouldn’t require so much processing power. with that being said, i recommend running my Flash Aquarium on at least an 800mhz or better machine, otherwise you might not have too much fun. there’s a couple of quirky bugs i found, but it shouldn’t bother u too much… i’m sure you’ll find some workarounds, as i did.

without further adieu…

btw… this was partly inspired by “Finding Nemo”… can’t wait to see it!

HAVE FUN and let me know what u think =)

That’s fairly cool… for a couple minutes.

There should be more fish, and they should move slightly faster.
The crab should stay somewhere that you can see him, or at least his little blurb should move to remain visible.

The graphics are cool though and the fact that the bubbles pop is really neat. I also like that the bones will continue to swim if you lift them up off the bottom of the tank.

thanks for the comments technogirl! there’s so many different things that I’d like to do to it… like give u the option to select different sea creatures, like dolphins, sharks, maybe even seamonkeys.

i tried increasing the speed of the fish like u suggested, and because the frame rate is only 15fps, it got kinda choppy. maybe i’ll make a special kind of “super speed” food that makes the fish swim faster or maybe just a + or = button to change speed.

i’ll try adding some more fish, too and see if this boggs down the performance any  i may need to get rid of a bubble or two.

i’ll post updates soon.

yeah i also noticed the zombie fish did u do that on perpose?

Rotamus, yes I did do the zombie fish intentionally… at first, i just had them sink to the bottom… and if you picked it up, it would sink to the bottom again (like the starfish and the crab)… but I thought it was funnier to have them just continue swimming… i like the swimming fish skeleton.

Looks interesting

Nice work

Are you new to flash?

#7

Hi Rukuwa,

well, I’ve been working with Flash off and on ever since it was first called “Future Splash”. anyway, i was mostly using flash for some cheesy animations and illustration work, but i didn’t really start “scripting” until a couple years ago. I don’t do that much stuffs with Flash, but it’s fun to use when i get bored.

thanks for ur comments!
