Hi!
This site was suggested to me by a friend of mine. I hope to find some suggestions/opinions about my career goals and how I want to achieve them.
I am 27 years old an have no art background at all. I allways was really interested in 3D though. A year ago I downloaded and installed the student version of Audodesk Maya to get started. I mostly learned with the online trainings available at Escape Studios. Now after a year of getting the basics of Maya and 3D art, it's getting more clear what jobs I'm heading for and how I want to reach them.
My Job goal is:
Character Setup Artist, creature rigging preferred. But honestly, I would grab every opportunity I'll get, to break into the industry.
How I want to achieve my goal:
My plan is ( if I can call it a "plan" ) to do the 3D Character Program at Animschool. After that, I either will try to find a job, or do the 3D Character Animation Program at VFS (If I can afford it at that time), and then try to find a job.
If I'm lucky and will find a job after the program at Animschool, I'll probably work for 2-3 years and then go back to school and take either the 3D Character Animation or the Animation and VFX Program at VFS (again depends on the amount of savings I have at that time).
I'm lucky to live in Vancouver BC. Unfortunatly I've got no connections with people of the 3D Industry yet.
What are your opinions about my plan to achieve my goal, what do you think about it? I would be glad to any replies with suggestions and/or opinions because I don't know if there are any other online programs like Animschool which allow to keep working while doing the program, maybe there are? That's why Animschool would be a great choice for me. Even if I had the money for a program at VFS, I would'nt take it unless I allready have a solid background in 3D.
Thanks a lot guys!
