Muscle overlays

#1

Does anyone know of a good book that provides overlays of muscles for various poses. For example, the book “Anatomy for the Artist” by John Davis and Sarah Simblet has sections where a person is posed and there is a plastic overlay sheet that you can put over the figure showing the bones. I was wondering if there is anything similar showing multiple poses (not just standing front and back) with an overlay for the skeleton matching the pose and another for the muscles. If there isn’t a book does anyone know of a website that does something like this?

Yes! I found this fantastic book:

http://www.amazon.com/Visualizing-Muscles-Ecorché-Approach-Surface/dp/070060426X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4/104-8143569-8225516?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1192389583&sr=8-4

At first I thought that the muscles had been painted in digitally, but they actually bodypainted a gymnast with the muscle striations and took color but mainly b/w photos of him in different poses. It is an EXCELLENT book - I highly recommend it!

Thanks, I’ll look into it.

I just wanted to say thanks for recommending this book Rebecca! I myself have a hard time trying to learn and visualize where the muscles are in different poses and how they relate to the skin on the surface. So I picked up this book and wow, it really is great! Perfect for “Visualizing Muscles”-as the title says
