I have a model of a house, the center is one object and the left side is another. On the right of the center object is the left object instanced and mirrored so that the two sides match. I need to make 1 texture for the whole thing but I want to keep it so that I only have to texture the left and center (what ever goes on the left will go on the right since its instanced.) I cant attached them since that will defeat the purpose of the instance so I have the left and center as two separate objects with 2 Unwrap UVW’s. Is it possible to have these two on 1 texture and how? If there is a better way to do this let me know.
Multiple UVW Map channels on 1 texture?
1.Unwrap Left half.Keep half or whatever u think is req for the center texture, empty in the UV plan while packing the UVs.
2.Save the UVs to a file(export).
3.Load these UVs to the right by adding a unwrap UVW to the right half.
4.RenderUV template…(*Dont use ‘guess aspect ratio’ and remember the texture size)
5.Now Unwrap the Center part shrink all UV faces to the other half.Imagine the half is reserved for the left/right parts.
6.Render UV template ,make same size as that of the Left map u did earlier.(Again no guess aspect…)
7. Open these both templates in PShop etc. and blend them to Multiply.U’ll get ur composite UV template. Paint the texture and apply to both objects.
Hope I am understandable.![]()
