Multicut breaking faces?

#1

I’m having a issue when I try to add a cut with the multicut tool it seems to stretch the face it’s cutting a strange way. Does anyone know what’s causing this or how to fix it?

Before

After

The stretched face still counts as the whole front face of the object, like in the first picture. trying to make more cuts to turn the face into quads doesn’t seem to help

I also have these edges appear while hovering over the face with the tool

I’m trying to create doorways from the face on the outside to a face on the inside, and am using a basic door shape as a template. I used the make hole tool to cut the faces out. Then when I tried to cut/merge edges or verts to get the shape how I wanted, with the bottom of the hole merging to an edge that was the floor, I was also having the face breaking issue with some of the holes. So I used mesh cleanup and that allowed me to merge the edges I needed to properly, but after I deleted all the extra edges and to cut some edges in again it did this. Is there some easier way to make these doorways that I’m missing?

A big ngon with holes usually leads to trouble, I wouldn’t trust that geo in your last screenshot even if you get it to “look” right at this point. If I was making something like that I’d use booleans, but prep the target surface beforehand so each group of openings sit on their own panel. That way the chaos is compartmentalized, and after the boolean you can go in and add/delete edges to get rid of the ngons (or just triangulate if topology doesn’t matter).
