Mudbox Won't License!

#1

Hey CGTalk,
I am trying to install the Student version of Mudbox 2009 and it will not activate! Here is my scenario…

I recently previously installed Maya 2009 successfully, I now want to install Mudbox 2009 since it came with my student superpack.

I successfully installed Mudbox, and then successfully licensed it as well. But when I start Mudbox the configuration wizard starts up, telling me to license it! Very annoying. So I license it again (successfully), and it still won’t work.

Does anyone know the problem here, before I contact Journey Ed?

Are you using Vista? It’s important to include system specs in these post.

I had problems with Vista as well- the solution is to right click on your shortcut or program file and select “run as admin” even if you are logged in as an admin account. you can also go into properties of the shortcut or exe and select something like “always run as admin”.

its a pain, and vista will ask you a half dozen times if you’re sure you want to do that, but try it and see if it works for you.

I have a real distaste for vista. I can’t wait till Mudbox comes out for the OSX later this year.

Yep I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Running as an admin didn’t fix the problem, though, I relicensed it as an admin, and started as an admin, but still didn’t work. I actually just tried this yesterday. I think I’m going to contact Journey Ed for support and inquire about this. Since now, I have run out of chances to get a new license for Mudbox, I’ll have to use the last created one.

The funny thing about this is that the license registration always reads and complete and successful.

I had a similar issue with my vista home premium and it was an admin/permissions issue.

I finally fixed the problem, it was caused by a wrong type of license.

Journey Ed shipped Maya with a Network license, which is not correct, the licenses are supposed to be standalone, so, I called Autodesk and they sent me new licenses for my products.
