I made the basic mesh in maya, and done the UV mapping as well befor exporting as .OBJ into mudbox
been working on the model for a while with no problems,
now that i am done with the sculpting and i want to pain it i have a strange problem,
the model at level 6 has no UV at all?!
if i go down to lvl 0 then i can see the UV map, but from level 1-6 no UV.
what can i do?
Mudbox UV Problem?
Go to Level 6, and click Mesh -> Recreate Level UVs.
Mudbox doesn’t automatically have UVs at each subdivision level as a memory saving feature. So you have to do it manually.

i have nother question.
my computer is extremely sluggish at lvl6
i just upgraded for 64bit and from 4gb ram to 8gb ram so i could just get past lvl 5 with this model,
is it possible to paint the basic colors in lower res and do some more in high levels or do i have
to suffer through the sluggishness and work on all of it on level 6?
Sure, painting is based on the size of the maps assigned to the various channels, not mesh density. The only thing mesh density will give you is a better approx of the details in your final mesh. So if you plan on painting say red on tiny displaced dots that are only visible at level 6, then you’ll need to paint at level 6, otherwise, painting on any level is fine.
