Mudbox Send to Maya Option

So at my work we’re using Linux and have Maya 2012 and Mudbox 2014. I noticed that in Preferences they don’t have the Maya Path variable anymore so I can’t specify your Maya install; I also looked it up and it says you have to have the same version of Mudbox/Maya now…which is more than a little annoying for anyone in a studio which will always have mismatching versions…

I digress…Is there any hardcoded file that I can override this in? Does anyone know how I can activate this option given these two versions of software?

As far as I understand, the “send to” feature currently is limited to the same version - per the docs. Not sure of any way around it and even if you could, would it be reliable or not.
