Mudbox is replacing Zbrush in the maya pipeline for modeling, but what about texturing?

ILM have replaced Zbrush with Mudbox and for texturing they use their own in-house software.

So what should a individual pro artist use for texturing? Zbrush ? or other software?

thanks

Friend of mine works there and he says they totally kicked zbrush out.And for texturing they use their own software.

An individual pro artist should be able to make his own decisions about the tools, that fit into his pipeline.

I believe ZBrush has served ILM quite well. I don’t think you’re info is in the least bit accurate. Both are great programs but honestly, ZBrush is going to be hard to replace. I wouldn’t be surprised if ILM has a copy of every software out there though. I don’t see why they wouldn’t use Mudbox. I definitely don’t see them getting rid of Z man, the modeling in Pirates alone would solidify the use of the tool.

That’s very specious reasoning. Just because one department of one studio is using Mudbox instead of ZBrush doesn’t make it a norm.
