Just spoke with an Autodesk representative and they said - quote: “there are NO plans to ever support Mudbox for the mac”. They only support the windows platform. They said the only product they support for mac is maya because it was already mac based.

That’s unfortunate news for us mac users. I was really hoping to eventually see Mudbox for the mac, but at least I don’t have to waste any more of my time trying to find out if it will happen or not. :frowning:

has anyone heard any whispers of a mac version coming aside from this???

#4

I don’t think that they release the mudbox for mac.
Cause there is no autodesk product for mac , the maya mac version comes from alias .Autodesk just kept on it

#5

there is alot of mac software from autodesk I believe. Maya, combustion and others. I’m not sure who or what was created from autodesk themselves but there is some mac versions in there. I’m thinking like you though… max and autocad are the main things that come to mind as autodesk software and either are mac compatible. Autocad used to be but abandoned it…

Its ashamed that you take skymatter who purposely built the thing to be ported to other OS’s so there is hope… then autodesk buys them and crumbles that hope :frowning:

oh man, that would be great! I’ve been wanting to use MB for so long on my Mac natively. Can’t wait to find out if it’s true. :bounce:

Well, this is good news on so many fronts and came out of nowhere. It’s encouraging to know Autodesk seems to be listening to us mac users. Anyone know of a release date or when a mac demo would be available?

Wow, its a hair too late for me but my props to autodesk for introducing it.

Someone mentioned it “coming with maya” is that true in any sort? I’ve got Maya 8.5 and I need to upgrade it. Mudbox isn’t included right?

Thanks Kerwin I missed that.

Great news for the Mac community! Are they 64bit?

Also, I wonder if Softimage might be around the corner as well. It was built on a UNIX framework so I can only imagine it is totally possible to make a Mac version happen!

#14

I think you are thinking of Softimage 3D which was built on a UNIX framework. XSI is a Windows app. It runs on Linux via mainwin, a third party toolkit which allows a native Windows app to run on Linux.
