Mudbox displacement map export issue

Hey guys, I started using mudbox on a model that I originally sculpted in Zbrush, so i Sculpted using map and then added additional details, when i extracted the map however (first time doing so in mudbox) it turned out really dark. Is this normal?

I imported the base obj and sculpted with the map, and the model looked good… is there a way to know what alpha gain I should be aiming for from mudbox for Maya?

Is it a 16 or 32 bit map?

here is a tutorial how it should work…
and if you are using a 32bit map there are no alpha gain adjustments necessary…
those black areas are negative values…
