Mudbox 2013 ptex problem

Hi im having a problem im trying to merge 8 of my diffuse paint layers to prepare for export to maya. When i click “merge visible” it takes a few moments and merges them to one, but in certain parts of the model the texture is semi checkered. i don’t understand why. Also when i try to paint over the blacked out boxes the paint does not show up on those boxes.

could you try to turn off the gigatexel engine and restart mudbox… and merge the layer again…?

how much graphics ram do you have.?
is this a quad only mesh.?

I Found a way to fix it. i merged two layers at a time and i played with the order and it worked. i think the reason it happened was because i used the flood from camera feature on the screwed up layer.

id like to report the issue to autodesk.

Its a very very large file and would take very long sorry

I had this same problem. If I recall properly it happened when I didn’t have opacity set to 100%. Did notice the problem till merging the layers.
