Mudbox 2009 was lagging

#1

Hi,

I’m using Mudbox 2009 64bits, it was so “lagging”, sometime I try to sculpt my model, my
brush already is on the end point but the display take 1-2 sec then display.

Rotating also very slow, Zbrush is more faster.

I thought is my system not up to standard, but I try on Zbrush, the speed was there, I even
install back Mudbox 1.07, there’s no lagging in speed on the old version.

My system is as below:

AMD Althon 64 X2
Quadro FX 570 256mb
4GB of Ram

Anybody had this issue also??

im using the same quadro 570 without lagging up to 10mio poly…
newest driver installed…?

but yes these graka is to slow… ordered last week a 9800GT

I’m using the latest driver also NVIDIA Quadro version 181.20, but Mudbox 2009 was still lagging & sometime even crash when I doing a simple scuplting on the model. Btw, I’m using MS Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1.

Is it the software itself still with bugs that Autodesk didn’t really go through testing or my problem on system.

Well, now using back Mudbox v1.07 as Mudbox 2009 is really testing my patience to throw my system out of the window. :argh:

Maybe Mudbox v1.07 simple is better.

wait a month… the service pack in on the way…
no crashing here…

Well, do hope that the Mudbox 2009 sp1 will fix the lagging issue. Actually, I pinned alot
of hopes that Autodesk will made it a better product on this version, but it disappointed me.
:hmm:

along with the lagging I am also having a problem not being able to see anything smooth shaded…it is just black in the viewport I have a quadro fx 1000…has anyone experienced this as well and know if the service pack is supposed to fix it. I have the latest drivers.

I was really hoping that Mudbox would give ZBrush a run for their money. I can’t stand the way Pixologic treats their mac customers.

I really hope this lagging issue is fixed when the mac version of Mudbox is released in February.

If you are using multiple displays, be sure to use Mudbox in your primary display which has the real 3D acceleration.

With the new SP out hopefully it helps you some but that 570 is a lower end Quadro. I did some reading up in it and many had issues with it saying it wasn’t quite up to par and is considered an “entry level” card.

Also, I’m not too sure 256 MB’s of video RAM is enough for programs like MB anymore.

Ok, updated Mudbox SP1, the speed seems improve but now like the brush is not sensetive,
when tried to scuplt, the responsives of the brush seems lagging.

draco76x there is a new wacom driver…
give it a try…

Strange, after defragment my PC, now Mudbox 2009 SP1 is running fine. Maybe there too much junk inside my PC & slow down it.

Anyway, keep my finger cross, hope there will be no more problem.
