Mudbox 2009 QuickStart series: new site

www.DashDotSlash.info

After the massive interest and bandwidth the QuickStart series has been using up from users all over the world, I thought it was about time to round them all up into one site so that people could find any video from the series that they need fast and track the whole set down easily. So as such I’ve moved all videos to a new domain name completely separate form my main site. (As they were starting to take over what in reality is my ‘work’ site.)

There are now well over 2 hours of QuickStart videos alone and another 8 of ground up (so far  ).

To open things up here’s two new ones that cover ambient occlusion. The 1st video covers the whole amb occ baking process and what the settings mean in detail and the second covers little trick of mine that some users may find of use. There’s still plenty more to come (including the entire ‘Mudbox 2009: Fro the Ground Up’ series embedded at high res in the site) and something else rather special.

Both videos are available on the ‘New Features’ page of the site and be sure to check out the rest of the videos if you haven’t already.
Enjoy

That’s great Wayne. Thanks a lot. It looks like a really useful resource and I’ve book marked it.
…the top right video in Texturing is coming up as a “Private Video” with a lock on it. Woss that about?

Ah that’ll be vimeo havng a small hissy fit due to the ammount of videos I upped in 24 hours …that one refuses to be made public no matter what I do so I may have to reupload.

The whole series is amazing and very helpfull.

On the other hand I think there should have been a feature so that one could download the videos locally instead of viewing them only from web. It would have been quite much more appropriate for the user to study them out.

Sorry but there’s no way I could bankroll that with the amounts of hits these videos get… Although theres nothing I’d love better than making them downloadable (which I did try, but found that the bandwidth was costing me an absolute fortune…), its a simple matter that it costs a fair whack to make these available up till now and theres only so much I can afford to bankroll this projct for. So this is the best solution for me and mean users get access to them at all times.
