MP - Mountains

#1

Hi everyone.

It’s the first time I post in this section, so let me introduce myself.

I’m from belgium, I have 22, and I’m reaaally interested in Matte Painting. I’m studying computer graphics at school.

Here’s my first one, called Mountains. All critiques and comments are really welcome.

Thanks

hi, and welcome to the forums, hope you learn a lot !
in this painting I believe you have some very grainy photo textures, like the sky, is not matching the grain in the other mountains, also the left background moutain does not match the dark / shadow levels, you need to darken a bit more
matte painting does not always need to have a focal node sometimes they are just used as backdrops , are you using it like a backdrop for anything in particular??

Hi Jaime, many thanks for the reply

This MP purpose is not for a backdrop. I did it just for fun, not for a production or something else. But I did it with that in mind.

You’re totally right about the upper left mountain, it’s a bit too blue.
Concerning the sky, I added grain to the matte, not just on the sky. Maybe the sky was “grainy” before.

Once again, many thanks !
