Motion blur

#1

Id like to know if there is a way to reduce the render time for motion blur but keeping a nice result? I only want the Ground and the character to be affected as shown on this picture.

with these setting:( I dint had 13 passes for this render but 12.)

( I dint had 13 passes for this render but 12.)

I also changed the antialising to blend, filter size 4.5, blend .1 from the render setup.

With out the MB the render take about 9 mins per frame but with, it take almost 3 hrs per for a 200 frames animation. I reduced the amount of passes to 6 but sdtill take about 1 hrs30min. I would like to keep it at around 30min max per frame. Also I have tried to use the motion blur from the effect panel but when I apply it to my character with the scene it is not renderable but when I render with only the character it goes quick with nice result. I am thinking to use render passes but I never did so not sure what as to be rendered single or not.

And I think it worth saying that I use the scaneline as renderer and pretty much need to rely on it for this animation.

Anyway any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I don’t know wich program you are using, but generally exporting motion vectors and creating the motion blur with a compositing program is way faster than building the motion blur in the 3d application!!
With this workflow you’ll surely gain some time.
