I have been having some problems when making morphers for my characters head. I got up to eight morphers, such as smile, left smile, frown and so on. When i got up to the eighth morpher, they all stopped working…doesn any body now why this happened or how i can fix the problem without redoing them all?
Morph Targets
Stopping working how? You mean you enter a percentage and don’t see a change?
There are certain modifiers you can add to a mesh that can exhibit this – Bones Pro is notorious but others might be as well. If you want to post a sample file I’d be glad to look at it.
Unless you have a modifier on top of your morpher or you just ran out of memory (a complicated mesh) I have no idea why it would stop at 8 morphs (I’ve used dozens and dozens, all the way up to the limit of 99 at times).
i didn’t get as far as to use bones in the face. This problem has happened to me before, but only on the first morpher. Luckely i saved right be fore the eight morpher so i was able to go back to that version and redo the eight. What i think might have happened was when i copied the original head with the morpher modifier on it and changed the copy for the morph then deleted the morpher modifier. That seemed to be the cause of the problem but i don’t understand why it’s a problem. So i deleted the morpher modifier of the the original head and made a copy of it and then added the morpher modifier back on to it. So i of my morphers are now part of that caopy. It seems to be working now. I can’t send you a file because after i got the older version working i saved over the one that wasn’t working.
So do you think that making morphers that have a morpher modifier on the top of the stack is a problem for the morhing object?
Yes that is the problem.
Your base model needs to have the Morpher modifier attached to it. All of you morph targets need to have their modifier stack at the bast level only. (Editable Poly/Editable Mesh etc)
Yes, he’s right.
Normally the procedure is to just do a Snapshot on your morph head – this way any modifiers are “resolved” (and the Morpher modifier won’t be on your copy).
