Mograph, bend objects along a spline, please help :)

#1

Hey Guys,

I was hoping I could some help with mograph.

I have objects animating along a path using mograph (object using spline) and rate for animation. Once the objects get to the curve in the path they dont bend.

Is there a simple easy to get them to bend?

Thanks!

If you want them to bend, you have to use a spline wrap modifier. With a simple cloner only the pivot points of the objects are animated, not the vertices.

Step 1: Clone your objects in a straight line.

Step 2: Add a spline wrap modifier underneath and link it to the path you want them to follow/bend around (you might have to tweak the axis direction before you find the right alignment)

Thanks for the reply!

I tried using the spline wrap with the cloner set to linear. The objects bend nicely on the spline but I then lose animation settings rate and rate variation you get with the cloner with object setting selected.

Would I have to hack it just using the spline wrap settings to animate?

Thanks

You can also clone first on a simple straight spline in object mode and then add the spline wrap.

You should then be able to animate the offset, variation etc… and then bend it all into shape.

Thanks guys, got what I was looking for

Agreed. I read this thread simply because of this username. Bravo, sir!
