I made a model in LightWave Modeler, then i bring it to Modo to modified some detail, when the model is back to LightWave, it said that “polygons with more than 4 vertices can not be convert to subdivision mode”, what should i do now.
Modo -> LightWave
go to stastics in lightwave ( press w ) in polygon selection mode and press the plus next to the >4 this will selected all polygons with more than 4 points. then press shift and T to triple then all.
For real?
How is he still using it? If proven, would not authorities take Modo and other purchases he made from cards and put him in jail?
I would be skeptical of a posting accusing another user of malfeasance unless the author’s reputation and identity was as impeccable as Dan’s. I’m assuming he has sufficient knowledge and/or proof so that his warning should be taken seriously.
If someone used a stolen credit card to purchase modo, then Luxology should have picked that up. I thought that was why there was a delay between when you get your temporary user license until when your permanent license arrives. This should be enough time to verify credit card information.
That is, unless the person who got their credit card stolen didn’t bother reporting it for a week or more.
I don’t think we can stop people with illegitimate software from gaining knowledge on this forum. How can you stop them? They can always come back with a different username.
Also, the solutions are not only for the person who asked the question. I’m always searching back through old posts and finding the answers I want.
I bet a bunch of people here haven’t even purchased modo despite the fact they use it. Start a list with their names on too? Realistically, you can’t stress over legitimate users, and others/criminals* (*delete as applicable)… because the interweb is FULL of them.
Cheers!
no, they wouldn’t neccesarily pick it up. you order on their site, you do not need the physical card. Just the correct name and billing address, and the numbers.
For example, lets say you are a dishonest salesperson in a store where you would have access to information like home address and credit card info.
If you used that info to buy stuff, the real card holder likely would not know for several weeks until his bill came for that item. In some cases a credit card company will call you regarding charges if they see something that looks out of character for your spending habits. Case in point, I rarely spend over 3k per month on my American Expres card. However when I dropped over 5k on studio gear in one shot, they made the vendor call and verify my identity before they processed the charge.
500.00 might not be an unusual figure on a monthly charge if you are a computer geek who buys lots of stuff regularly.
And since I know Dan personally, and I know that he doesn’t even like to jump off on people who deserve it most of the time, he certainly would not post something like that unless he had absolute knowledge of it’s truth.
Phong,
As was mentioned simply Hit “W” then make sure you are in Polygon mode Cntrl + H then where you see >4 hit the plus sign “+” this will highlight those polygons then hitting shift + T will make Tri polygons killing the Ngons.
However, if you do not want Tri polys then your only alternative would be to do some tweaking in your model.
FOr instance, it might be you only have a couple of Ngons, sometimes I have been able to find a simple modeling solution to make quads, or maybe just one Tri polygon and have beeter geometry flow.
Its up to you
