Modo+Lightwave+Mudbox questions

#1

Hi!, I’m Alfredo and i’m working on a proyect where i need some organic modeling, well, it’s fabric and soft surfaces like clothes.

People at work uses Modo, Zbrush, Mudbox, 3dsmax and LW. So i’ve been told to work with modo, mudbox and lw for this proyect.

The first problem i’ve found is kinda common, i started modeling and then exported the model to .obj format and imported it to mudbox. First mistake, coz i needed to unwrap the model first and then i could start detailing in mudbox… the problem is that LW makes uvmapping quite difficult, and somehow the uvmaps i set in LW won’t go into the obj i exported, and then they’re not recognized in mudbox qhen i try to export the normalmap texture…

Here’s where i ask for help about uv texturing, unwrapping and exporting to obj with the uvmaps insluded (or at least the coordinates)…

Am i missing something?

[edit] sorry, i accidentally deleted a part of the text…

I want to uvmap with modo and export it to obj so it can be used in mudbox when i export the normal map … i found a tut, i’ll let you know how it goes :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t use Mudbox (I’m a ZBrusher), so I can’t help you there. However, I do use Modo, and Lightwave. Lightwave is difficult to make UVs in for sure, but Modo is great for making UV maps. Use Modo to make your UVs. there are some Modo UV tutorials found here.

Hope that helps.
