And maybe if they think again about local distributors, who can show promote sale and register the program locally a lot of those probs would be solved.

In theory a local distributor should promote and help people register the program. In practice it is usually far from this, as was the case for Lightwave in many areas.

Some Lightwave distributors didn’t know their market and were incapable of promoting it properly. They were useless for support, and all they succeeded in doing was jacking the price up more. Some became an intolerable hinderance.

I hope Luxology does not use local distributors. It’s cheaper without them. The price savings are more of an incentive to buy than the ineffective promotion (or lack of) by local distributors.

Chaz, regarding the price differences between download bandwidth versus a physical package… In some international markets it costs US$100 to freight Modo. Add to that, some countries charge $100-$200 to inspect a parcel being imported through customs. Add to that, there may be additional import duty or value added tax. Then there’s the cost of printing a manual, pressing a disk and shrink wrap packaging. Bandwidth would have to be very expensive to be more than freighting an international package.

If you’re in the US, then it’s much cheaper to purchase Modo. People elsewhere pay more. If you think that shrinkwrapped packages are better, then that’s fine. You’ve already got that option for purchasing Modo. What I’m asking Luxology to do is provide a download-only option for Modo, for those people in areas where the local situation makes download cheaper.

truly spoken. I’m living here on the other side of the world and if I order from the US I always have to pay horrible shipping rates. Sometime they’re higher that the software (or any oter thing) itself. I would prefer ground shipping, but this option is mostly not available or for US territories only. Most online shops using FedEX, DHL and UPS higher rates shipping usually bound to a country, one can’t change this during ordering process.
The result is that I’m quite often order nothing!
