I know it is a matter of interpretation but what would be the preferred method for modelling a great white shark in LW (9). Also should I model the shark in the desired pose? Or is it better to position later with bones? Does anyone have any advice for modelling such an object? I have to make it rather life-like as to be comped into a photomanip in Photoshop. Any resources, references images and advice is greatly appreciated.
Modelling a shark ?'s
To be honest, every artist would probably have their own preferred method of going about to model a shark. I would probably start with subdivision surfaces and continue to refine the mesh and then possibly go in and add more detail with some displacement painting in a program such as Silo, Blender, or Modo.
Subdivision modeling has tons of tutorials on modeling organic shapes, although I don’t know if you’ll find one specifically on a shark.

or you can do something similar to displacement painting in LW by using this technique show by Proton:
