MoCap Retargeting

I am new to MotionCapture and did my first attempts from getting MoCap Data with the Kinect and four PS Eye cams and iPiSoft, which works very well. I have got a Rig with, for my opinion, very good MotionCapture data on it and i want to retarget it to a humanoid Character in Maya.

I think the best way for this is to use the HumanIk features in Maya wich work very well for retargeting the animation to another HumanIK like rig and bake the transformation data to the HumanIK CharacterControls - I’ve no problem with this workflow.

But how can I bake the MoCap data to a Rig with my own Controllers and not the HumanIK CharacterControls. Everytime I retarget my animation to another rig and want to bake it to the rig, it disconnects all my Constraints etc and the controllers don’t work any more. All data is baked directly on the skeleton and not the Controllers.

And another question. Is there any possibility to freeze the transformation data from the HumanIK - CharacterControllers in Maya? The HumanIK rig is very fast to setup and i also like its features, but with transformation data I find it very useless.

Take a look at the MasterClass I did this year, it’s aim at exactly this, taking MoCap data over to your rig. Also comes with a toolkit to do this.
