Missing particles-Please Help!

#1

I have a scene with a few particle emitters with hypervoxels attached. About 2 seconds into the animation, the particles vanish. This only happens when I render the sequence. The particle emitters show up in Layout for the entire animation. If I turn on “Show Particles” in the Hypervoxels tab they show up for the entire animation. Even more strange, if I go to any frame of the animation and do an F9 render the particles show up.

It is only when I render the entire sequence that the particles disappear. I have set the number of particles emitted to the maximum for all the emitters.

Any ideas?

Bake the particle simulations into PFX files.

Just curious… outside of particle limit… what do you have set for particle lifetime?

I think the settings are correct since the OGL view still has the particles and an F9 render came out correctly.

The problem is (disclaimer: someone could be more knowledgeable than me) after even you hit calculate, LW sometimes “forget” the simulation and fails to simulate the particles correctly at rendertime.

Hence, you should save the simulations into a .pfx file. That way, the particles motion data are saved and LW does not have to calculate a simulation during rendertime, it simple loads the motion data from the .pfx file. Over a network, you render nodes can also call up the .pfx file to ensure consistent particle motion.

The same reason why you should also bake all your dynamic simulations (softFX, hardFX, clothFX etc.) into mdd files.

Thanks. That seems to work. I don’t know why only these couple shots were effected, but I will use the PFX files from now on to avoid these problems.

Glad it helped
